Bio/Profile
Born and raised in the Adelaide suburb of Norwood, I completed my secondary schooling at Norwood High School before studying at Adelaide Teachers' College and Adelaide University as a student teacher bonded to the Education Dept. I gained a Diploma of Physical Education at Adelaide and began a teaching career (Physical Education, Maths and Science) at Norwood Boys Technical High School (now Marryatville HS) completing a B.A. (majors in Philosophy and Psychology) in 1970. In 1972, after working for four years, I resigned from the Education Dept. to travel overseas to UK on a working holiday. After 3 months travel in England and Scotland, I gained employment with the Inner London Education Authority, working in a London boys' secondary school and won promotion to a Head of Dept. role in that school. At this time I met my future wife Pam and we set up our home in Maida Vale not far from Lords Cricket Ground. Our son Daniel was born in London and started his schooling there.

After 10 happy years in London, with holidays in France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Holland, Pam and I decided to return to Australia and set up home here. Following a term working on contract positions in Adelaide, I gained permanent employment in the Education Dept. at Pinnaroo Area School, near the Victorian border, where we spent 7 happy years engaging in the local community, with me playing football, tennis and golf and the family travelling in SA, Victoria and NSW.

In 1990 I received a transfer to Victor Harbor, teaching in the local high school for 17 years and playing tennis and volleyball for local teams. In 1997 I gained a Bronze medal at Port Elliot Surf Lifesaving Club and patrolled each summer with the club until 2019. We moved to Hindmarsh Valley in 2003 on 5 acres overlooking the Hindmarsh Valley and just loved the space and the opportunity to grow vegetables, and native trees and shrubs. We retired together at the end of 2006 and travelled overseas that year to Singapore, Vietnam, Egypt, London, Peru, (Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu), Los Angeles, San Francisco and New Zealand. Since then we have travelled in Australia one year and the UK the next. Each year we usually go to Port Lincoln and fish the pristine waters of Coffin Bay.

I first heard Fleurieu Harmony perform a set of Barbershop songs at the local Port Elliot show in October 2009 and fell in love with the harmonies. As a result  I joined Harborside Harmony Chorus in Victor Harbor in November 2009 and Fleurieu Harmony in April 2010 to sing in the bass section. In the same month I also joined Adelaide  Allsorts Harmony Chorus, a mixed a cappella group based in Marion SA. Apart from singing I have taken on a few admin. roles - President at Harborside, Vice President at Fleurieu and Secretary of the newly formed BHA Central Region. In June 2013 the Central Region ran its first Regional competition and the Harborside quartet 293 Not Out, for which I sang bass, won the gold medal in the Masters section.
In August 2020 we moved to Seaford Meadows during the Covid 19 pandemic which has put our overseas travel on hold.
